Western Cowal encompasses the villages of Tighnabruaich,
Kames, Portavadie and Kilfinan. The west coast
of Cowal borders with Loch Fyne, a long wide
sea loch, and a ferry links the township of Portavadie
to the Kintyre peninsula at Tarbert. Tighnabruaich and Kames are on
the shores of the Kyles of Bute, and look directly over to the northern
coastline of Bute. Tighnabruaich has some of the most scenic surroundings
of any Scottish village.
